DRP revises all charges, related to the issuing of NICs from today

The Department of Registration of Persons (DRP) has revised the charges for all services provided by the department, related to the issuing of National Identity Cards (NICs) from today.   

In a special communiqué, the DRP Commissioner General, Vianni Gunathilaka said the decision was taken according to the cabinet decision taken on September 22. The revision of charges relating to all services attached to the DRP will be increased from tomorrow.   


Accordingly, the revision of fees charged by the DRP is as follows: Registration and issuing of NICs for the first time will be increased by Rs.200. Issuing of an amended copy of NIC will be increase by Rs. 500. A fee of Rs.1,000 will be levied for issuing a duplicate of a lost NIC.   


Issuing of new NICs in place of the cards whose validity period has ended after the start of the electronic national identity cards (E-NICs) will be increased by Rs. 200.   


NICs under one day service (in addition to the application fee) will be increased by Rs. 2,000. A fee of Rs.2,000 will be charged for the translation of NIC to English.   


To Certify the particulars in a NIC, as per requests made by banks in Sri Lanka, financial institutions, state corporations, statutory boards, and government undertakings or institutions established in Sri Lanka under any written legislation will be charged Rs. 500. It will be Rs. 1,000 for personal requests.   


Rs.15,000 will be charged for the registration of photo studios and Rs. 3,000 will be charged for the renewal of the registration of photo studios (once every two years).
