Claiming that recovery process of the missing data files of the National Medicine Regulatory Authority (NMRA) had already begun, minister Namal Rajapaksa said yesterday legal action would be taken if there had been any fraudulent action behind the deletion of the data files.
He told Parliament that investigations into the incident was still in progress and that legal action would be taken against the officials if they had overlooked their responsibility.
"It is the responsibility of the officials and institutions to protect the data. If they had overlooked their responsibility, action would be taken against them," he said responding to a statement made by National People's Power MP Vijitha Herath in Parliament.MP Herath said deletion of NMRA data files had contributed some extent to the prevailing drug shortage and that the authorities had failed to explain exact details of the incident.
