TNA MP- Sanakiyan Rasamanikam yesterday urged the government to take action against the Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Japan and the others in the Embassy over the death of Wishma Sandamali Ratnayake a Sri Lakan girl who was engaged in higher studies in Japan.
Wishma had died at an Immigration facility in Japan recently.
“ The Japanese Government has tendered an apology for her death but the Sri Lankan Embassy in Japan has done nothing to help her. They have failed in their duty. Therefore action has to be taken against those in the Sri Lankan mission in Japan after conducting an inquiry. I am not finding fault with Japan,” he said.
Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardene who responded to the Parliamentarian requested the TNA MP to speak with care.” Japan has a longstanding friendship with Sri Lanka. The Japanese Government had assisted Sri Lanka to contain COVID- 19. Therefore, I request you to speak carefully. The Japanese Government has tendered an apology on the matter,” he said.
