Decision made today on quarantine curfew: Army Chief

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 headed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will meet this morning to decide whether the quarantine curfew imposed in the country will be further extended or lifted after Monday, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said. 

General Silva said the COVID-19 committee met last night to review the current situation and will brief the progress to the President at today’s meeting.


 The quarantine curfew imposed on August 20 was extended till September 6. during the previous meeting held.
However, several health experts and State Minister Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle were in favour of extending the current lockdown for at least two more weeks.
