Dengue threat amidst COVID in Weligama

There is a risk of the spread of dengue as well in the midst of COVID 19 pandemic in Weligama, the area Medical Office of Health (MOH) said. 

The MOH office said eight dengue patients have been identified so far and they are residents of the Aluthweediya, Kohunugamuwa area in the Weligama MOH Division.


Meanwhile, Weligama Municipal Public Health Inspector (PHI) Namal Nuwan Kumara said that dengue mosquito larvae were found in closed schools and closed government institutions during random inspections. “For a week from the 22nd of this month, public announcements were made  to educate residents about dengue, fumigation, door-to-door testing for dengue larvae has been carried out while homeowners  are to be alerted if dengue larvae are found, and then prosecuted.
