The committee which was appointed by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana to probe the recent incident in the Parliament lobby involving State Minister Diana Gamage and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Sujith Sanjaya Perera had decided to seek the assistance of women MPs.
Accordingly, it has been decided to seek the assistance of MPs Thalatha Athukorala and Sudarshini Fernandopulle.
Serjeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando confirmed that a decision had been made to seek the assistance of two women MPs.
Member of the committee Gayantha Karunatilleka who commented on the matter said the committee only decided to seek the assistance of two MPs, but they would not be included in the committee.
The committee is to meet on November 6.
The Speaker appointed a committee chaired by his Deputy Ajith Rajapaksa after State Minister Gamage complained that SJB MP assaulted her at the lobby on October 22.
