Co-Cabinet Spokesman Plantation Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said the present difficulties in financing imports with foreign currency will be eased within the next two weeks.

Addressing the weekly Cabinet press conference, the Minister said the government had taken measures to address liquidity issues and those measures would yield results.   He was responding to a question about importers raising concerns about difficulties faced by them to finance imports due to dearth of US Dollars within the banking system.    The government recently received over US $ 1 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Bangladesh and China.
