All secrets behind the Easter Sunday attacks including how plans were devised to create unrest in the country after the tragedy and how those who tried to avert the attack were prevented will be revealed soon, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said today.

Cardinal Ranjith in his sermon during the service held at Tewatte Basilica to mark the 1000th day since the attacks, said no one will be able to prevent the truth from coming out, “No one could stop God from revealing the truth. A great deal on the tragedy has been revealed and everything will come out soon. The investigations have revealed that certain forces were planning to create unrest after the attack. This was done with the 2019 Presidential elections in mind. It has also been revealed that some interested persons have deliberately neglected the information given by RAW prior to the attacks. Some officers have tried to take action to stop the Easter Sunday attacks but have been prevented by others,” he said.
“There were various incidents in the country for many years. There were shootings, people were thrown into burning tyres. One wonders whether the rulers who were behind those incidents think they will be tolerated every day. Those who ruled the nation for the past 74 years have pushed the country into a deep pit. We have no one to turn to at the moment,” the Cardinal added.

“Even the truth behind the incident in Borella church is being covered up. An effort is being made to put the blame on innocent people,” he said referring to the recent incident where a grenade was found at All Saints’ Church Borella earlier this week.

He said one person who lost all his family members in the Easter Sunday tragedy has informed him that he had decided to sleep near the graves of his loved ones. “One should understand the suffering of those who were affected by the Easter Sunday tragedy. However God is close to these people who are suffering,” he said.
