Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) leader former MP Udaya Gammanpila vowed to publicize the two reports on the Easter Sunday bomb attacks today unless President Anura Kumara Dissanayake does it. Making his remarks to the press, Mr. Gammanpila said the deadline set up by him for the government to disclose the contents of these reports with security sensitive details would end.
He said the President had time until today to put them in the public domain.
“Otherwise, I am going to do it,” he said.
He said he risks imprisonment for 14 years for the disclosure of state secrets if he proceeded with putting out details in these reports commissioned during the time of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe. One report deals with the role of the intelligence apparatus during the time of the attack while the other is based on findings after probe into allegations raised in a Channel 4 documentary.
Mr. Gammanpila said not only Catholics but also people from other communities including 45 foreign nationals died in the series of bomb blasts that rocked the country in 2019.
