Both the President and Parliament should resolve the cricket crisis, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mayantha Dissanayake said yesterday.
MP Dissanayake who is the son of former Minister Gamini Dissanayake who at one time headed Sri Lanka Cricket said an emergency Bill should be brought in to introduce new laws pertaining to cricket and other sports. “One cannot afford to delay this endeavour,” the MP told a media briefing.

“Also, the President should order CID to begin a probe on SLC. One wonders as to what is keeping him from ordering the CID to carry out a probe,” he said.
“My father might be weeping now in heaven when he sees the plight of Sri Lanka’s cricket. My father predicted a Sri Lankan win in the World Cup in 1996. He had told former captain Arjuna Ranatunga in 1994 that Sri Lanka would win the World Cup before long. However, he had told Arjuna that he may not live to see Sri Lanka winning the World Cup,” he added.
“All corruption came to Sri Lanka cricket with the substantial inflow of money  after Sri Lanka’s win in the 1996 World Cup,” he also said.
