A Police Sergeant attached to the Intelligence Unit who was on duty at the Katana Police Station at the time of the Easter Sunday attack in April 2019, has been suspended from service for failing to perform his assigned duties.
Police said an initial investigation had been launched into the Police Sergeant’s actions, and based on the findings of this preliminary investigation, a charge sheet was issued against him under 12 charges of disciplinary violations.
Accordingly, the IGP suspended the officer as he pleaded guilty to all the charges in the first instance.
Hence, Police headquarters issued the relevant order suspending him from service with effect from June 14, 2023.
