With the opening of shopping malls and clothing stores in the Western Province despite orders not to open, the risk of spreading of COVID-19 virus could be aggravated, Provincial Director of Health Service in the Western Province Dr. Dhammika Jayalath warned yesterday.
She said the Provincial Medical Officers had been informed to take steps to close down clothing stores which were being operated violating the health regulations.
“The Director-General of Health Services has also directed the IGP to take immediate action against such clothing stores,” she added.
The shopping malls and clothing stores should remain closed under the recent guidelines issued by the Director-General of Health Services.
