A forensic audit is to be conducted on a fuel distribution scam that had taken place in 2022, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera informed Parliament yesterday.
Minister Wijesekera who was responding to an oral question raised by MP Thushara Indunil Amarasena said it has been found out that the consignments of fuel had been stolen using duplicate invoices.
“ KPMG Ltd, a local expert company will conduct the forensic audit,” the Minister said.
MP Amarasena said a certain amount of refined oil has gone missing when importing last year. “ Oil which was in 500 bowsers has been unloaded at a location which is not a storage. Three officers attached to CPC who alleged to have been involved in the scam have been given promotions,” he also alleged.
The Minister who responded said all details pertaining to the incident could be uncovered by the forensic audit.
