An underworld gang of four men were arrested by Homagama Police during a raid at Kottawa Exit in the Southern Expressway on suspicion of planning a murder and robbery of a financial institute.
Investigation revealed that they were close confidantes of the organized criminal gangster known as ‘Loku Patty’ now hiding in Dubai that they were proceeding to kill an individual in Homagama area at the instigation of their leader. The suspects had in their possession two locally made hand grenades and more than 50 grams of heroin.
Police said two more suspects who were the masterminds of the plan would be arrested on information provided by the four men in custody. The suspects stated that they were not known to each other and that they met for the first time at the instigation of ‘Loku Patty’ and plotted to kill a relative of another underworld gangster ‘Kosgoda Suji’
Homagama Police are conducting further investigations.
