Fridays to be ‘work from home’ days for public servants: Minister

• The number of days that public servants have to report for duty will be reduced to four days a week
• The proposal in this regard is to be submitted to the Cabinet for discussion 

Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said yesterday that steps will be taken to declare Friday, a day to work from home for public servants.  

He said the number of days that public servants have to report for duty will be reduced to four days a week accordingly.  

The Minister said that he hopes to submit the proposal in this regard to the Cabinet and take a policy decision.  
He said that these steps are being taken due to the current fuel and financial crisis in the country.
