Furthering LGBTQIA rights South Asia and Europe can learn from each other

LGBTQIA+ communities argued that South Asia and Europe can learn from each other in furthering the rights and dignity of the community, a social event was told .   

Yannick Shetty from the Austrian Parliament at this event acknowledged the progress made in South Asia in realizing the rights of the LGBTQIA+ communities and argues that South Asia and Europe can learn from each other in furthering the rights and dignity of the community.  


Head of the FNF Regional Office South Asia Dr. Carsten Klein, stated that the event is timely and relevant as LGBTQIA+ rights have become integral to the South Asian conversation on human rights in recent times. MP Premnath C. Dolawatte, highlighted that the Panel Code Amendment Act is under discussion in the parliament after the Supreme Court’s green light on the matter and the country is in the process of decriminalizing homosexuality.
