Gama Samaga Pilisandara Meemure, traditional village, to get facelift

Meemure, a Sri Lankan village remotely located in the Kandy District of the central province, will get 1990 ambulance for its police post as part of implementation of decisions taken at Gama Samaga Pilisandara (conversation with village programme) by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, a statement said.

Progress Review Meeting to review the current progress of the implementation of the proposals made by the people of Meemure and several surrounding villages to the President at the Gama Samaga Pilisandara was held under the patronage of State Minister Nimal Lanza.


A statement from the Ministry said 85 per cent progress has been made in the implementation of the relevant proposals.


Out of the proposals received from the people, about 15 per cent of the proposals that need to be implemented were resolved.
Action was taken to resolve several proposals which had been delayed in implementation. Meanwhile, instructions were given to provide 1990 ambulance to the Meemure Police Post for the needs of the people of Meemure and to strengthen the Minipe and Ududumbara Divisional Education Zones as a solution to the proposal made to merge the Minipe and Ududumbara Education Zones to solve the existing educational problems of teachers and principals.


The participants were Central Province Governor Lalith U. Gamage, Lohan Ratwatte, State Minister of Prison Reforms and Prisoners Rehabilitation, Wasantha Yapa Bandara, Chairman of the District Development Committee, Chandana Tennakoon, District Secretary of the Kandy Province, Gamini Rajaratne, Chief Secretary of the Central Province, Srinath Gamage, Coordinating Secretary to the President, Assistant Secretary to the President Lakshika De Saram and Divisional Secretary Sujani Wijetunga .
