President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday told the Cabinet meeting reportedly that the western countries such as Germany pledged their support to introduce organic farming successfully.
He said these countries were keen to make it a success story here as otherwise such it would have a negative effect on experiments on organic agriculture being conducted there .
The president also said that politically motivated farmer agitations had been instigated in the country. He instructed the ministers to attend to any issue about shortages of fertilizer for the current season . The president has already announced that he will not reverse his decision to introduce organic agriculture no matter what.
