The target set by the former government of attracting 2 million tourists to visit Sri Lanka in 2023 has been achieved and we would like to thank the tourism industry for the achievement, former Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando said yesterday.
“We congratulate the present government, Tourist Board and Tourism Development Authority for achieving the target of getting 2 million tourists to visit Sri Lanka in 2024. It was our government which targeted 2 million tourists in 2024. We stopped work in September 2024 but our successes have continued on what we started and I am happy about it. “I thank the Tourist Board, Tourism Development Authority for continuing what we started during our regime,” Fernando said in a special statement.
“The target for 2025 is 2.5 tourists. We believe the country will achieve this target too. Sri Lanka can and will do it,” he added.
