The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered to lift the travel ban imposed against Social media activist and the admin of ‘#GoHomeGota2022’ Facebook page Thisara Anuruddha Bandara.

The suspect was arrested on April 2 for allegedly attempting to excite feelings of disaffection to the President and the Government and he was released on bail after being produced before Court. On that occasion, the court imposed travel ban restrictions against the suspect, as one of the bail conditions.

When this case came before Colombo Additional Magistrate Keminda Perera, defence counsel appeared on behalf of the social media activist and sought an order to revoke the travel ban imposed against their client. The suspect had been arrested for committing offences under section 120 of the Penal Code.  Further magisterial inquiry was fixed for May 31.
