Gota will have to wear a jumper after Sajith wins

United National Party (UNP) MP Hesha Vithanage, while addressing the gathering at the Matugama rally, highlighted the need to nominate Minister Sajith Premadasa as the party’s presidential candidate and said the SLPP presidential candidate would have to wear a jumper the day after Mr. Premadasa wins the presidency. 

He said the Rajapaksas could not be put behind bars because of political deals entered into by a few ministers in the UNP government, but that era would end once Mr. Premadasa assumes the office of President.   

“The UNP has been waiting for 25 years to have one of its members elected as President and finally we have got the opportunity to do so,” he said.“We UNPers can be happy now as the issues which the party was facing are over,” Mr. Vithanage said.  He said some were waiting for the party to split into several factions but their dreams have been shattered now. .
