Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is likely to come back in August according to media reports and if he comes home, the Sri Lankan authorities will provide ample security to him, cabinet spokesman and transport and Highway Minister Bandula Gunawardana said yesterday.
In response to a journalist at the first post-cabinet news briefing of the Ranil Wickremesinghe transitional government held yesterday, Minister Gunawardana dismissed the suggestion that former President Rajapakse is in hiding in Singapore. “He has duly obtained visa to stay in Singapore similar to that of any other visitor to that country and not in hiding. I am not aware of a request by any group or individual from the Singapore government to arrest him,” he added.
