Govt., Opposition MPs owe Rs.420 million in electricity bills: Trade Union

 Ranjan Jayalal, convener of the Ceylon Electricity Board’s (CEB) United Trade Union Alliance, has revealed a list of both government and opposition parliamentarians, including some ministers, who owe Rs. 420 million in electricity bills. 

 Some of the names who are yet to pay their electricity bills include Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Tourism Minister Harin Fernando, MP Dullas Alahapperuma and State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.


 Surprisingly General Manager of the CEB is also yet to clear his electricity dues.   Jayalal told the Daily Mirror that people were facing many difficulties with their bill payments after the recent revision of electricity tariffs.  
He claimed that the subject minister also announced in Parliament that a list of 82 people, including parliamentarians, were yet to pay their bills.


 Other than parliamentarians, the list includes ministry secretaries, general managers, managers, and directors, according to the Trade Union Alliance Convener.


 Jayalal also claimed that he would take full responsibility for the list he was going to reveal. 
He urged the responsible ministers to file charges against him and stated that he would appear in court with the necessary evidence.
