The Government remains hopeful that the current number of Covid cases and fatalities will drop in the days to come due to the steps under implementation, a Spokesman said. 

Co-Cabinet Spokesman Plantation Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirane told the weekly Cabinet briefing that the government, under the leadership of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa , was taking steps in consultation with medical experts and all the stakeholders to contain the transmission.

“We hope the cases will drop in the days to come,” he said.
