The Government, which came to power with a promise to create prosperity in the country through the slogan “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour”, has not been even able to supply at least the essential commodities such as gas and milk powder to its people, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) said yesterday.

JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva told a news conference that the Government had no plan or mechanism to control the escalating prices of essential commodities, and as a result of this, the people have been greatly inconvenienced.

He said it was evident that an era of queues would be created in the country once again.

“Hopes of the policy framework of the Government “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour” has been shattered now. The President, Prime Minister or the Government do not have a vision to take the country forward. The whole administrative mechanism has collapsed. It is irregular and heading without any plan. No one is taking responsibility for anything,” he said.
