The government today assured that the list of politicians who recommended the issuance of liquor licences will be released after investigations, Chief Government Whip and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said yesterday.
He told Parliament that the Finance Ministry is conducting an investigation into the issuance of liquor licences and that a list of names of the politicians who recommended the issuance of licences will be presented in Parliament for all to know.
The Minister said this while responding to a question by SLPP MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena, who urged the Minister to reveal the names of MPs, Ministers or people’s representatives who had recommended the issuance of liquor licences just as the names of the persons who obtained the licences.
“We are thankful to the government for presenting the list of names of persons who obtained the liquor licences.
We urge you to present the list of names of the people’s representatives, MPs, Ministers or any other person who had recommended to issue the said licences,” he said.
