State Minister Nalaka Godahewa said the government had clarified the circumstance which led to the fuel price hike and that steps were being taken to reduce it soon.
He told the media yesterday in Gampaha that the constituent parties in the government had expressed different views on the issue and that they had the right to do so.
“However, their statements should not be regarded as the government’s stance. What the President and the Prime Minister states is the government’s general opinion Minister Basil Rajapaksa is a leading personality in the government who is able to influence the decisions of the government. Perhaps he would have opposed to the increase of fuel prices if he was present when it was taken up” He further said.
