Under the Governorship of Roshan Goonetileke, the Ceylon Teachers’ Union alleges that justice cannot be expected for students, teachers and parents against Provincial Head of Schools.
Governor Western Province, Former Airforce Commander Roshan Goonetileke is accused of his attempts to cover up the alleged allegations levelled against Principal, St. Joseph’s Balika Vidyalaya Nugegoda on manipulating Grade One admissions and misappropriation of school funds.
“A group of parents met the Governor recently and told the Governor how this Principal was involved in misappropriation of school funds and how the grade one admission has been manipulated from the time she took over the office in 2018. We were making these allegations as we are having proof. To our dismay, the Governor queried from us whether isn’t it unfair to take action against a person for misappropriating Rs. 50, 000? He further said after obtaining higher education from the university, it is not fair to take any stern action against her as she is having a family to look after. Is this what we expected from the Governor of this province? We got this meeting videoed and the Governor cannot deny that he made such a statement.
