Slashing YouTuber Dilan Senanayake with cut throat razors over an alleged incident involving teasing a woman in the Galle Face Aragalaya was a government concocted script to defame the aragalaya activists, popular YouTuber Ratta said yesterday.
Rathindu Senarathna alias Ratta addressing a media briefing said yesterday the reasons police put forward why his fellow social media activist Dilan Senanayake was hacked by four youths in a revenge assault over an incident of teasing a girl during the Galle Face Aragalaya was a shameful script drafted by government.
He said Colombo Crime Division arrested four youths on Tuesday for breaking into Dilan’s studio on Pagoda Road, Nugegoda on December 14th and hacking him with cut throat razor blades.
The police in a media statement issued had said that the inquiry had revealed that the suspects had slashed Dilan over an incident that is said to have taken place on June 7th at Galle Face. The motive behind the slashing as claimed by the police, was an act of revenge over Dilan teasing a girl at the aragalaya site, Ratta said.
“The entire incident was a planned act to tarnish the reputation of Dilan and to defame the aragalaya activists,” he said.
Dilan who attended yesterday’s media briefing with partly healed several deep wounds on his limbs and chest said the entire incident was fabricated by certain parties with malicious interests.
“There was no such incident that took place in June on Galle Face Aragalaya site as said by the suspects in their statement to the police. Suppose such an incident had occurred on that day, then why did these attackers wait six months to take their revenge,” Dilan questioned.
“Besides, there were a number of social media activists present at Galle Face those days both supporting and against the GotaGoGama aragalaya. If I had teased or harassed a girl then that should have sprung immediately on all social media platforms,” he said.
Therefore, we know that this was another cheap script concocted by those who are against the aragalaya.
Attorney Manoj Nanayakkara said the arrested four suspects had been produced before the Gangodawila Magistrate and remanded. “We are however not satisfied with this CCD investigation.
We are demanding a much in-depth probe into the matter and hoping to discuss further with the CCD in the coming week to determine the actual modus operandi of the culprits,” Attorney Nanayakkara said.
