Health officials have urged the Government not to open the country to the full extent when taking the decision to lift the prevalent quarantine curfew.
Deputy Director-General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath told a media briefing yesterday that it was not recommended that the country should be fully opened at once.
“If the country is going to be fully opened, there could be loopholes that could turn the situation still worse,” he stressed.
“Hence, it is much appropriate and highly recommended to open up the country gradually, so that we could see whether there are risk factors that could give rise to COVID cases,” Dr. Herath added.
“At present, there are talks about reopening the country from next week, since the nation is reaping the benefits of the quarantine curfew which has been in place for over a month now,” he said.
