A top health official said yesterday that daily Covid cases should be brought down to less than 100 for the situation to be considered satisfactory.
Deputy Director of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath told Daily Mirror that Sri Lanka was on the verge of achieving it prior to the April New Year festival, but the relaxation of social health measures led to the outbreak of the present wave resulting in an exponential rise of positive cases and fatalities. Dr. Herath said the Covid situation was under control at the moment but not to a satisfactory level.
