The business community of Nuwara Eliya was jubilant after a heavy influx of local tourists was experienced yesterday in ‘Little England’ the hill resort of Sri Lanka.

The scores of arriving tourists had reserved hotels, tourist resorts, guest houses and lodges.

The business community was jubilant over the improvement of the tourist arrivals almost after a gap of two years owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the reservations had been cancelled by several local tourists after the government decided to strictly enforce the inter provincial travel restrictions.

The owners of tourist hotels and guest houses said they had provided adequate health and sanitary facilities in keeping with the quarantine regulations.
