Raising the hopes for the power supply crisis in the country, the capacity of the Maussakele and Castlereagh reservoirs has been rising due to the heavy rainfall experienced in the  catchments over the last several days.
The catchment of the Maussakele reservoir is formed by Sri Pada Forest reserve, Nallathanniya, Upcot, and Samimale areas while that of Castlereagh reservoir by Hatton, Norwood and Bogawanthalawa areas.

Meanwhile a senior official of the Hatton Water Supply and Drainage Board Consumer Services Centre said the drinking water sources were improving.

The water level in the reservoirs had dropped by 75 percent during the prolonged drought.

However, the situation has improved due to the high rainfall experienced at present in the central hills.
