Heritage Kites Sri Lanka in a vibrant display of colour, skill and tradition marked their presence at the Telangana Kite Festival 2024, a spectacular event organized by Telangana Tourism and the Telangana Government in India.
This marked their fourth consecutive participation in the festival, which was held at the Parade Ground in Hyderabad from January 13 - 15, hosting around 40 international professional kite flyers from around 15 different countries.
Heritage Kites Sri Lanka, a passionate team of kite flyers, has organised and participated in national and international kite events for the last 15 years. Represented by President Thejitha Saubhagya Edirisinghe and Secretary Shiromi Samarakoon, Heritage Kites Sri Lanka showcased around 30 mesmerizing traditional Sri Lankan kites at the festival.
These kites beautifully depicted various aspects of Sri Lanka’s rich heritage, including its awe-inspiring nature, UNESCO Heritage sites, traditional mask industry, traditional paintings and the legendary King Ravana. Other participating nations included Indonesia, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Cambodia, Thailand, Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Italy and South Africa.
