SJB MP- Rajitha Senaratne said he will cross over to another party if he feels necessary.
Dr Senaratne told a press conference that what mattered to a politician were the policies rather than the political party to which he or she belonged to.
“Remember that what is most important is the policies of a politician and not the party he belongs to. I can even cross over to another party if I feel it is necessary,” he said in response to a question raised by the journalists that he was a man who had crossed over to different political parties from time to time.
“ I have crossed over to different political parties but I have not changed my policies which are based on socialism,” he added.
Meanwhile Dr Senaratne claimed that it was he who initiated the saline manufacturing plant in Kundasale during his tenure as the Minister of Health. “I would have been happy about the opening of the factory if those in government did not claim it was their baby. How would you feel if your neighbour entered his surname to your child in his birth certificate,” he questioned the journalists.
He also alleged that several institutions such as the National Medical Research Institute and the Ministry of Health were passing the ball to each other for importing less effective COVID- 19 vaccines. “ How can the National Medical Research Institute say it is up to the Health Ministry to import vaccines after giving its approval for it?” he questioned.
