Pope Francis is to hold a special prayer service in the Vatican today ( Monday April 25) on behalf of the victims of the Easter Sunday bomb attacks in Sri Lanka in 2019 together with Sri Lankan bishops and a group of persons who were wounded in the attack , Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said yesterday.

Speaking via Facebook Cardinal Ranjith said the group of persons who are currently in the Vatican will also meet Pope Francis after the service.

“ This will not be a political event but only a service held on behalf of those who were affected by the Easter Sunday mayhem. We only want to show the world their plight,” Cardinal Ranjith said.

“ We were compelled to seek the assistance of the international community to find out the truth about the attacks as many facts have been swept under the carpet,” he added.

“ We have spent a minimum amount for this trip to the Vatican. A kind donor from Sri Lanka had sponsored the trip,” he said.
