The India - Sri Lanka ferry service will continue every other day as scheduled despite some Indian media reports saying otherwise, Daily Mirror learns.
An international, high-speed passenger ferry service between Nagapattinam on the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu and Kankesanthurai in the northern province of Sri Lanka, resumed last Saturday after a gap of four decades.
Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal and Tamil Nadu Minister for Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports, E.V. Velu, flagged off the craft from the Nagapattinam port on Saturday. There were Indian media reports suggesting that the ferry service was cancelled due to lack of passengers. However, an informed source said the ferry service had been scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
“It will happen every other day,” he said.
