Sri Lanka and India are mulling over an intensified partnership to promote green alternatives in the transport sector, particularly emphasizing electricity and biofuels.
During his farewell call in New Delhi, the outgoing Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India, Milinda Moragoda, held an in-depth conversation with the Indian Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.

The discourse primarily revolved around the transition from fossil fuels to more sustainable sources for transportation.

According to a statement from the Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi, such alternatives are not only cost-effective but also environmentally friendly, making them ideally suited for a developing country like Sri Lanka. Minister Gadkari delved into India’s journey in the realm of alternative fuels, indicating his country’s readiness to share its expertise and experience with Sri Lanka, thereby enriching the bilateral ties in the domain of sustainable development.
