The Indian authorities asked the Sri Lanka Police to provide underworld kingpin Maddumage Lasantha Chandana Perera alias Angoda Lokka’s next of kin’s DNA to ascertain whether he was the person who died in India last year.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said Angoda Lokka who was living in Coimbatore in South India as Pradeep Singh, died mysteriously leaving several questions unanswered.

Angoda Lokka had reportedly fled to India after an attack on a prison bus in the Ethanamadala area in Kalutara, in which another underworld gangster ‘Samayan’ was killed.

The police spokesman said the Indian National Investigation Agency has asked Sri Lanka to obtain a DNA sample of Angoda Lokka’s closest relative.

Accordingly, the CID is working on the matter, he said.
