Heated arguments broke out in Parliament yesterday between D. Weerasinghe and Jathika Jana Bala Wegaya (JJB) MP Vijitha Herath as Mr. Weerasinghe accused JVP of attacking the residence of ministers on May 9, 2022.

Un-parliamentary language was used by both MPs as arguments rocked the chambers.

When Mr. Herath said the villagers of Mr. Weerasinghe are waiting for him to come to his home town to deal with him. Mr. Weerasinghe then accused Mr. Herath of threatening him.

“Look at this picture, one can see Mr. Weerasinghe putting his hand over the shoulders of a thug whom he accused of being a JVP Member,” Mr. Herath said.

“It was this person who put his hand on my shoulder by force and took a photograph,” Mr. Werasinghe said.
“Villagers of Ampara are waiting for you to come to your hometown to deal with you,” Herath said.  “Deputy Speaker, Mr. Herath threatened me. My life is in danger I need security,” Mr. Weerasinghe said.
