The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) yesterday urged the Government to reveal all the details pertaining to the incident where files containing confidential information of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) went missing recently.

Former JVP MP Sunil Hadunnetti told a news conference that it was a threat to national security to lose information belonging to a state institution. He said it was reported that only four persons had access to the said information system and said it was the responsibility of the Government to reveal who those persons are.

It is reported that the CID is conducting an investigation into this incident. If only four persons had access to this information system, people have a right to know who they are and their current positions, he said.

Hadunnetti said as the lost information was pertaining to the purchase of drugs, distribution of drugs and other important information, there was a reasonable doubt that this was done on the need of the drug mafia. People suspect that there must have been a political hand behind this act. The Government must reveal all the information regarding this incident including the four persons who had access to this information system. Otherwise, it would prove that this was done with political blessings, he said.
