Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella yesterday filed a Fundamental Rights petition in the Supreme Court challenging the legality of his arrest in connection with the alleged importation of substandard Immunoglobulin injections.

Former Minister is seeking an interim order suspending the operation of any certificate issued against him under the Public Property Act.

Keheliya Rambukwella was arrested on February 2 by the CID. However, he stated that at no time was he involved in the process of selection of the tenderer or the identification of drugs to be subject to the emergency procurement system introduced by way of a Cabinet decision.

This petition had been filed through Attorney-at-Law Sanath Wijewardane.
