The agreement which Sri Lanka has signed with New Fortress Energy to run the Kerawalapitiya Power plant is a move by USA to compete with China to become the nation that controls geopolitics in the region, Samagi Jana Balawegaya led Dushana Virodi Balawegaya said yesterday.

SJB CEO and head of the SJB affiliated body Ajith P. Perera told a press conference that the agreement will help USA to gain major control over Sri Lanka. “ The agreement will give the US company New Fortress a 40 percent stake of the Kerawalapitiya plant and exclusive right to supply LNG energy in the future. “This means that the company will get the opportunity of supplying power to all companies and households in Sri Lanka. This will help USA to have major control of Sri Lanka,” Mr. Perera said.

“ Geopolitics in the Asian region is expected to get hot with the agreement signed by USA  with UK to build nuclear submarines. Sri Lanka is also going to get involved in this conflict because of the agreements it gets into, such as the power supply deal. It is the Sri Lankan people who are going to suffer as a result,” he added.

The SJB CEO urged the Buddhist monks, other religious leaders and the General public to join in a struggle against the agreements with USA.
