The construction of Sri Lanka’s second LNG power plant is to begin next year, Minister of Housing and Construction Prasanna Ranatunga said yesterday.
The plant is expected to be completed in 2026 and is expected to generate 350mw of power. The total cost of the plant is estimated to be Rs 750 million.
A ten acre land belonging to the Land Development Corporation has been earmarked for the project . The agreement pertaining to the release of the land was signed on December between the Land Development Corporation and CEB.
Another two and a half acres of land in Muturajawela will be leased out to construct two pipe lines for water and fuel. The national grid will be increased to 700 Mw as a result of this project.
