A limited number of buses and trains will operate within provinces, today after lifting the ongoing island-wide travel restrictions from 4.00 a.m.
Accordingly, buses and train services will operate until reimposition of restrictions on June 23 at 10.00 p.m. travel restrictions re-imposed again at 10.00 pm on June 23 will continue till 4.00 am on June 25.
Meanwhile, the Railway Station Masters’ Union (SLRSMU) said the arrangements have made to operate trains from today until Wednesday (23).
Train services were not operated for nearly a month. “Seven train services will operate in the coastal line (Aluthgama, Panadura, Mount Lavinia and Moratuwa), six trains in the mainline (Ambepussa, Mirigama, Veyangoda and Gampaha) and four train services on the Kelani valley line (Avissawella, Padukka to Colombo) will operate in the morning.
The same train services will operate in the evening to bring the commuters back. Train services on the Puttalam line (Puttalam, Kochchikade and Negombo) will also operate tomorrow,” the SLRSMU said.
Moreover, Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Chairman Kingsley Ranawaka said all depot heads were advised to assign buses required for the passengers.
