Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena says that immediate steps will be taken to increase the powers devolved to local government bodies in accordance with the Acts governing them.
The Prime Minister said this at a function in Wadduwa.
The government always takes decisions to act in a way that strengthens the business community and it is the closest institution to solve problems faced by the people. The government also took action to upgrade the Kalutara Urban Council as a municipal council.
