The Kankollai Vairawa Hindu temple land, which had been under the occupation of Security Forces for 33 years, was officially handed over to the local residents on Sunday (11), according to a senior military officer. The land, located within the High Security Zone of the Palali military base, fell under military control in 1990 during the height of the armed conflict in the region.
“A dedicated office has been established, led by a Brigadier, with the objective of resolving the matter within a time frame of six months,” he said. This initiative is being carried out under the guidance of Sagala Ratnayake, Chief of Presidential Staff and Adviser on National Security.
