The decision on the oil tank farm in Trincomalee should be made by the Ministry of Defence, UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene said yesterday.
Mr. Wijewardene who was the former State Minister of Defence said even the former government proposed that Sri Lankan Navy should be allowed to enter in to the complex any time when negotiating with India.
“The former Prime Minister proposed this condition,” he said.
“The Minister of Petroleum Resources has no say in the matter,” he added. He noted that the land on which the oil tanks are situated is still owned by the Sri Lankan government.
