Ruling party MP Gunatilake Rajapakse who sustained a fractured leg following an altercation with MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage after the government’s parliamentary group meeting on Monday has undergone a four hour surgery yesterday, hospital sources said.
Following the surgery , he was kept in the intensive care unit of the Colombo Army Hospital . The brawl had taken place on Monday following an exchange of words and fisticuffs. MP Rajapakse had fractured his leg. A police complaint has been lodged in this regard .
MP Aluthgamage who commented on the incident said he only grabbed Mr. Gunatilake by his shirt collar but did not punch him at all.
However, MP Rajapakse’s son Nilupul Rajapakse said, “After the meeting, MP Aluthgamage had grabbed my father by his shirt collar , punched and kicked him. My father had fallen fractured his right leg above the knee,”
