Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday advised seven youths for advertising a fake alcohol dansal on TikTok on Poson Poya Day.

Magistrate Prasanna Alwis while advising the seven youths for conducting a fake alcohol dansal on Poson Poya on TikTok asked them to pay Rs 1,500 to the state as state cost by each of the students.

Magistrate Prasanna Alwis advised the seven youths, Isuru Perera, Sanjaya Fernando, Subash Hansaka, Viraj Prasanna, Salinda Rukshan and Senath Tharindu to refrain from making such disreputable jokes in future on an auspicious day like Poya Day even for fun.

The Magistrate gave this advice to the seven youths on considering the submissions made by Counsel Chathura Amaratunga in court appearing on behalf of the youth.

The counsel stated that the youth in order to make fun had filled empty foreign liquor bottles with plain tea and had  uploaded a video clip on TikTok in order to have some fun.
However, their motive had been badly affected by the public, said the counsel. The Counsel said that there is no ulterior motive other than to have fun.

On considering the submissions of the counsel the Magistrate advised the youth to refrain from such acts in future and said even for fun they should refrain from engaging in such acts and they were asked to pay a state cost of Rs. 1,500 on each of the youth. The Computer Crimes Investigation Division of Sri Lanka Police has arrested seven young men aged 19 to 25 on the charge of promoting liquor by uploading a video clip on ‘TikTok’ social media, allegedly showing an alcohol ‘Dansala’ conducted on the Poson Poya day.
